Agartala, 2nd April 2026: Patients and local residents at Bishramganj Hospital are facing serious sanitation problems after the hospital’s water pump operator, Bapan Saha, allegedly left his duty to run a stall at the Bishramganj fair. The problem began yesterday and by this morning the hospital’s public toilets had to be closed because there was no water supply.

The issue came to light when Biswajit Ghosh and Deepak Dutta, who look after the hospital’s toilet facilities, spoke to the media. They said that the pump operator has not been operating the water pump and is instead busy with his stall at the Bishramganj Mela. Because of this, the hospital is facing a shortage of water.

Due to the lack of water, the toilets cannot be used, creating hygiene problems for patients, hospital staff, and visitors.

Around 60 to 70 auto drivers who stay near the hospital are also affected, as they usually use the hospital toilets. Visitors and traders who came to the local fair are also facing difficulties.

Local residents have demanded quick action against the operator so that the water supply can be restored and the hospital can run normally again.
