Agartala, 12th April 2026: Radhacharan Debbarma, former Chief Executive Member of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) and a senior figure of Communist Party of India (Marxist), has accused the Tipra Motha Party of fostering an atmosphere of fear during the ongoing district council elections.
After casting his vote in the TTAADC polls, Debbarma alleged that party polling agents faced obstruction in the Jirania constituency in West Tripura. He claimed that several agents were denied entry into polling stations and were forcibly removed from some locations.
He further stated that he personally intervened to ensure access for his party representatives at at least one polling booth. According to him, threats against CPIM polling agents began a day prior to voting, creating distress among party workers.
Despite these challenges, he noted that voters continued to participate in the electoral process. Debbarma also alleged that coercive tactics had been used since the nomination stage, describing the situation as deeply concerning and detrimental to a fair election environment.
He added that, so far, no complaints had been raised against the Bharatiya Janata Party in connection with these incidents.
