Agartala, 5th May 2026: Widespread anxiety has gripped residents across Tripura as the shortage of LPG cylinders and steep price hikes continue to disrupt daily life. The situation has become increasingly complex, with allegations surfacing that several commercial establishments in Teliamura are flouting regulations by using domestic gas cylinders in place of commercial ones.
Local sources informed that the hotels, restaurants, and other businesses have openly engaged in this practice. Traders argue that the relentless rise in commercial cylinder prices and supply shortages have left them with no choice but to rely on domestic cylinders to keep their operations running.
Meanwhile, reports of black marketing of LPG have further aggravated the crisis. Ordinary citizens complain that the scarcity and inflated costs are severely affecting household routines, pushing their suffering to new extremes.
The issue has sparked widespread debate over regulatory enforcement and the urgent need for administrative intervention to restore normalcy in supply and pricing.
