Shop attack sparks outrage at Amtali

Date:

Agartala, 7th May 2026:   A violent attack on the shop of local businessman Sushanta Deb has triggered anger and concern among residents of Amtali. According to reports, a group of unruly youths led by alleged miscreant Nilay Singh stormed the shop late at night, vandalizing CCTV cameras, damaging property, and taking away the CCTV hard disk.

Family members revealed that this was not the first incident of violence. Just weeks earlier, Deb’s father-in-law was physically assaulted. Despite repeated appeals to the authorities, they claim no effective action has been taken. An FIR was lodged at Amtali Police Station four days ago, but no investigation or case proceedings have reportedly begun.

Expressing frustration, the family said the delay in police response has left them fearful for their safety and doubtful about receiving justice. Local residents echoed these concerns, urging the administration to act swiftly, identify the culprits, and bring them under the purview of law.
