Mega blood donation camp held at Kailashahar on 79th World Red Cross Day

Agartala, 8th May 2026:   Marking the 79th observance of World Red Cross Day, a mega blood donation camp was organized on Friday at Hall No. 2 of Unakoti Kalakshetra. The initiative was led by the Unakoti District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Social Education and Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy through the ceremonial lighting of a lamp. Among the distinguished attendees were District Magistrate Dr. Tamal Majumdar, Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy, and District Red Cross Chairman Siddhartha Dutta.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across various professions, with a significant turnout from the youth. Organizers also delivered an awareness message underscoring the life-saving importance of voluntary blood donation.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Roy emphasized that blood donation is a vital humanitarian act that can save lives, urging healthy individuals to donate regularly. He lauded the consistent efforts of the Red Cross Society in serving humanity and called for collective responsibility in building a compassionate and socially aware society.

The event concluded with dignitaries interacting with donors and encouraging them to continue supporting such noble initiatives.
