Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra annual general meeting held at Agartala

Agartala, 9th May 2026 : The inaugural ceremony of the Annual General Meeting of Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra was held today at 2:30 PM at Tripureshwari Vidyamandir, Gandhigram. Delegates from all eight North Eastern states attended the meeting.

Dr. Bibhas Deb, Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Bir Bikram University, Tripura, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Deb emphasized the role of value-based education in nation building and lauded Vidya Bharati’s efforts in reaching quality education to the remotest corners of the North East while preserving indigenous culture and traditions.

The event was presided over by Prof. Ganga Prasad Prasain, President, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra. Dr. Sankar Roy, Vice President, Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan, attended as the Special Guest and spoke on the expansion of Vidya Bharati schools and the need for character building through education.

Dr. Jagadindra Raychaudhury, Secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra, presented the annual report highlighting the academic, cultural, and social outreach activities conducted across the region. The proceedings were coordinated by Dr. Pawan Tiwari, Organizing Secretary, Vidya Bharati Purvottar Kshetra.

A major highlight of the programme was the Shantanu Raghunath Shende Award Ceremony. The prestigious award for the year was conferred upon Sri Sanjit Kumar Ghosh, Manager, Tripureshwari Vidyamandir, Gandhigram, for his dedicated service and outstanding contribution to the field of education and institutional development.

The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from principals, teachers, and karyakartas of Vidya Bharati schools across North East India. The meeting will continue with deliberations on academic planning, teacher training, and expansion of educational initiatives in the region.
