District-level training program held in Unakoti ahead of Census 2027

Agartala, 20th  May 2026:  In preparation for India’s Census 2027, a three-day district-level training programme on House-listing and Housing Census (HLO) operations was organized in Unakoti district today. The programme was held at the conference hall of the Circuit House in Gournagar under the initiative of the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti District, Government of Tripura, in collaboration with the Directorate of Census Operations, Tripura, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

The training programme witnessed the participation of Ratan Biswas (IAS), Director of Census Operations and Director of Citizen Registration for Tripura, along with Megha Jain (IAS), District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti district, besides officials from various government departments.

Addressing the gathering, Ratan Biswas emphasized the importance of the census exercise, stating that it is not merely a statistical process but one of the key pillars for the country’s future planning and development. He said accurate and reliable data collected during the census enables the government to take effective decisions regarding the implementation of public welfare schemes.

Highlighting the significance of field-level officials, Biswas noted that the role and responsibility of personnel engaged in House-listing and Housing Census operations are extremely crucial. He further stated that the objective of the three-day training programme is to strengthen the technical capabilities of the workforce and develop a coordinated, people-oriented approach toward conducting the census exercise efficiently.

“The census is a nationally significant programme, and coordinated efforts from all departments are essential for its successful implementation,” he added.

During the training sessions, detailed discussions were held on the preparation of house-lists, methods of data collection, use of digital technology, and the various stages involved in the census process. Officials attending the programme expressed enthusiasm and readiness to carry out the upcoming census-related responsibilities effectively.
