Tripura holds stakeholder consultation on draft AVGC-XR policy

Agartala, 20th  May 2026:  The Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, convened a high-level stakeholder consultation in Agartala to deliberate on the draft Tripura AVGC-XR Policy, aimed at fostering a new creative economy ecosystem in the state. The policy focuses on Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR), with an emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development, and digital employment.

The consultation brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, academic experts, and entrepreneurs. Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, highlighted the state’s progress in digital infrastructure and innovation-driven governance. Jeya Ragul Geshan B., IFS, Director of Information Technology, presented the vision for building a vibrant AVGC-XR ecosystem, stressing talent development, entrepreneurship, industry participation, and employment generation.

Expert interventions were delivered by Austin Davis from the National Institute of Design, Gandhinagar, and Manvendra Shukul from IICT, followed by insights from Professor Saikat Roy of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata. Founders Mr. Anurag Khurana (New Gen Gaming) and Vishal Parekh (Cyber Power) shared their entrepreneurial journeys, offering practical guidance on enterprise creation and market opportunities.

An open forum discussion allowed stakeholders to provide suggestions on skill development, startup promotion, cultural content creation, and youth-led innovation. The consultation reaffirmed the government’s commitment to shaping a responsive and inclusive policy framework.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha and the guidance of Shri Pranajit Singha Roy, Minister for IT, Finance, and Planning & Coordination, the state aims to position Tripura as an emerging AVGC-XR destination in the Northeast. The draft policy will synergise with recent initiatives such as the Tripura Startup Policy 2024 and the Tripura Cybersecurity Policy 2025, laying the foundation for a robust creative economy aligned with the vision of the orange economy.
