Protest Erupts in Kachuchhara Over 10-Day Power Outage

Agartala, 21st  May 2026: Tension flared once again in the Kachuchhara area of Kamalpur after villagers staged a road blockade on Thursday morning protesting against a prolonged power outage that has continued for the last 10 days.

Residents of Bhim Shabar Para blocked the busy Salema–Ambassa road near Kachuchhara market by burning tyres and sitting on the road in protest. The demonstrators alleged that despite repeated complaints to the electricity department, no steps had been taken to restore power supply in the area.

Due to the blockade, vehicular movement on the Salema–Ambassa road came to a complete halt, leading to severe traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters.

Police from Kachuchhara Police Station rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. Following assurances from the police and administration that necessary steps would be taken to resolve the issue, the protesters later withdrew the blockade.

The villagers warned that if electricity services are not restored immediately, they will launch a larger agitation in the coming days.
