Date:

Agartala, 21st  May 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that Tripura is the first state in the country to add the Track Me feature to the 112 India Application, which has been enabled in the state.

He also informed that 218 sub-inspectors in the state police will be given appointment letters very soon.

“Their appointment process has already started. The government is working to improve the policing system in Tripura. Today, the Track Me feature in the 112 India Application was added and launched in Tripura for the first time in the country. Women and the elderly will benefit from this,” he said.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while attending the passing out parade of newly appointed male and female constables of Tripura Police, held at the KTDS Police Training Academy in Narsinghgarh today.

The Chief Minister discussed the Tripura policing system in detail at the event and highlighted various important developments.

Later, during a press briefing, Dr. Saha, who also holds the Home portfolio, said that the newly appointed constables of Tripura Police had undergone training at the KTDS Police Training Academy, while other constables received training at another centre.

“Today is their passing out parade. Through this, they have formally joined the police force. Today, the passing out parade of the 91st and 92nd batches was held here. This time, the number of women police personnel is higher than that of men. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special importance to women empowerment,” he said.

Dr. Saha said that the government is working to empower women, which is a matter of great pride.

“It has been seen in various fields that women are more sincere, loyal and honest than men. I hope that the Tripura Police Force is going to become stronger. Tripura Police has already received the President’s Colours and has also completed 150 years. Today, a woman commander led the entire parade here, which is a matter of great pride and joy for all of us,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that appointment offers had been distributed to a total of 975 people. Of these, 476 participated in the passing out parade today, including 318 women. Another 475 underwent training at the Ramarao Training Centre.

“Tripura Police now holds a significant position in India as well as in the Northeast. Personnel have also been trained in technical matters. In this regard, the government will provide the necessary support. Along with physical training, they have also been trained in law. They received training in various fields, including jungle warfare, field craft and disaster management. The cabinet has passed a resolution for the appointment of 916 more police constables, and the process is underway,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that Tripura was the first state in India to organise an exhibition on the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Hapania International Fair Grounds from September 10 to 14, 2025, and that the state secured third place in its implementation.

“We want Tripura to move forward in the policing system across India. About eight to nine months ago, I had requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide two IR battalions for the TSR. He had already provided one, and now another has also been sanctioned. The process regarding the entire matter is underway. For this, I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. This will not only benefit employment opportunities but also strengthen security,” he added.

Director General of Police Anurag, Principal of KTDS Police Training Academy Jayanta Chakraborty, and other senior officials were present at the passing out parade.
