Agartala, 22nd May 2026: At least five passengers were injured in a serious road accident that took place around 1 PM on Thursday at Bonbihar area along the Belonia–Jolaibari road in South Tripura.
According to reports, a goods-laden tipper truck bearing registration number TR 08 E 1575 collided head-on with a passenger-carrying Tata Magic vehicle bearing registration number TR 03 A 2613, creating panic in the area.
Soon after receiving information about the accident, firefighters from the Jolaibari Fire Service rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. The injured passengers were immediately shifted to Muhuripur Primary Health Centre, where doctors began treatment.
Speaking to the media, Medical In-Charge of Muhuripur Primary Health Centre, Dr. Rakesh Chowdhury, said that three of the injured persons were in critical condition and were referred to Santirbazar District Hospital for advanced treatment. The remaining two passengers were discharged after receiving primary medical care.
The accident temporarily disrupted traffic movement on the Belonia–Jolaibari road. However, the situation was later brought under control and vehicular movement resumed normally.Police are reportedly investigating the cause of the accident.
