Police seize 50,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 1.25 crore at Kamalpur

Agartala, 23rd  May 2026: Police in Kamalpur achieved a major success in their anti-narcotics drive late Friday night. At around midnight, officers from Kamalpur police station intercepted a Maruti car (registration TR 05F 0473) near Durga Chowmuhani check post on National Highway. Suspicion led to a thorough search of the vehicle, which revealed a massive consignment of yaba tablets.

According to officials, approximately 50,000 yaba tablets were recovered from the car, with an estimated black-market value of Rs 1.25 crore. The driver of the vehicle was immediately taken into custody.

On receiving information, SDPO Samudra Debbarma and other senior officers rushed to the spot to oversee the operation. Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigation is underway to trace the wider network behind the smuggling attempt.
