Agartala, 26th May 2026: At Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala, a solemn morning tribute was held to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, whose life and works continue to inspire generations across the subcontinent.
The programme, organised by the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, brought together dignitaries, scholars, students, and cultural enthusiasts to honour the enduring legacy of the “Rebel Poet.”
Chief Guest and Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman paid heartfelt homage to Nazrul, describing him as a powerful symbol of awakening, resistance, and human unity. He highlighted that Nazrul was far more than a poet—his creative genius extended across plays, music, short stories, novels, and philosophical writings, all of which continue to resonate deeply with modern readers.
The minister further emphasized that Nazrul’s fearless stand against injustice, superstition, and inequality remains as relevant today as ever. Despite facing severe financial hardship in his lifetime, Nazrul consistently championed the ideals of humanity, harmony, and national pride through his literature and songs. He urged young students to draw inspiration from Nazrul’s ideals in building a more progressive and inclusive society.
