Dr. Bulti Das advocates Sanskrit in all govt schools, Minister Kishor Barman responds positively

Date:

Agartala, 3rd June 2026:  Tripura’s Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman on Tuesday convened a detailed meeting with Dr. Bulti Das, Assistant Professor of Sanskrit at the National Sanskrit University, to discuss her recent observations on the state of Sanskrit education in Tripura.

Dr. Das had earlier shared insights on social media regarding the challenges and opportunities facing Sanskrit studies at the college and university levels. Taking note, the Minister invited her for a comprehensive dialogue at his secretariat.

During the interaction, both sides deliberated on strategies to strengthen and expand Sanskrit education across the state. Several proposals presented by Dr. Das were described as practical and forward-looking, aimed at improving accessibility and academic relevance.

Dr. Das emphasized the introduction of Sanskrit in all government schools, with a structured pathway into higher education. She highlighted promising career prospects for students, noting the language’s growing relevance in emerging domains. Sanskrit, she observed, could be integrated with computer science and applied in areas such as digital marketing, with IT companies increasingly valuing professionals with Sanskrit expertise.

On recruitment, she stressed transparency and suggested that examinations for Sanskrit-related posts be conducted entirely in the language. She also pointed to centrally sponsored schemes that could benefit the state.

Minister Barman welcomed the suggestions, assuring that officials would examine them carefully. He appreciated constructive academic engagement, remarking that informed dialogue and criticism rooted in development are vital for strengthening education and enriching Tripura’s cultural landscape.

Officials are expected to review the recommendations and initiate measures in the coming days.
