MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury extends aid to cancer-stricken minor girl

Date:

Agartala, 4th June 2026:   Pinaki Das Chowdhury, MLA of the Kalyanpur-Pramodnagar Assembly constituency, has come forward to support the treatment of a 16-year-old girl battling cancer.

The teenager, hailing from an impoverished family in Kalyanpur under Ramchandraghat constituency, is currently undergoing treatment at the Regional Cancer Hospital in Agartala. With her condition worsening, preparations are being made to shift her to a specialized hospital in Mumbai. However, the high cost of advanced treatment posed a severe challenge for the family.

Responding to the father’s plea, the MLA immediately extended financial assistance of Rs 75,000 from his personal honorarium and allowances. Handing over the cheque, he expressed heartfelt wishes for the girl’s recovery and long life.

Residents of Kalyanpur and nearby areas have warmly welcomed this humanitarian gesture, describing it as an inspiring example of public representatives standing by citizens in times of crisis. Meanwhile, the family has appealed to individuals and voluntary organizations to contribute towards the girl’s advanced medical care.
