Tripura cultural icon Panchali Debbarma nominated to NEZCC Board

Agartala, 6th June 2026:   Renowned folk and classical vocalist and cultural ambassador Panchali Debbarma has been nominated as Tripura’s representative to the Board of Governors of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The nomination was approved by the Union Culture Minister and notified by the Ministry of Culture. Panchali Debbarma is among eight eminent personalities selected from the northeastern states for the prestigious governing body.

A distinguished performer and promoter of Tripura’s tribal and folk heritage, Debbarma has represented the state and the country at numerous national and international cultural events. Her nomination is being hailed as a significant recognition of her longstanding contribution to the preservation and promotion of indigenous art, music, and dance traditions.

Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha congratulated her for this achievement.

The appointment is expected to further strengthen Tripura’s representation in cultural initiatives and policymaking at the regional and national levels.
