National Cancer Survivors Day Observed at ILS Hospitals Agartala

Agartala, 6th June 2026:   National Cancer Survivors Day was observed with great enthusiasm and emotion at ILS Hospitals Agartala in association with the International Oncology Cancer Institute (IOCI). The event brought together nearly 25 cancer survivors who shared their inspiring journeys of courage, resilience, and triumph over cancer.

The programme served as a platform for survivors and their families to recount their struggles during diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Their stories highlighted the importance of timely intervention, advanced treatment facilities, and strong family support in overcoming one of the most challenging phases of life.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Devleena Gangopadhyay, the only Medical Oncologist at ILS-IOCI and in the state of Tripura, emphasized the significance of early detection and continuous follow-up in improving cancer outcomes. She applauded the survivors for their determination and encouraged patients currently undergoing treatment to remain hopeful and positive.

The event was also addressed by Dr. Gautam Hazarika, Dr. Gautam Majumder, Dr. Debanjan Chakraborty, Dr. Raphael and Dr. Paramita Debnath. The speakers highlighted the advances in cancer care available in Tripura and reiterated their commitment to providing comprehensive oncology services to the people of the state.

Speaking on the occasion, hospital officials noted that the collaboration between ILS Hospitals and IOCI has significantly strengthened cancer care services in Tripura, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the state for treatment.

Many survivors and their family members expressed gratitude to ILS Hospitals and IOCI for establishing advanced cancer treatment facilities in Tripura. They shared how access to quality oncology care closer to home has eased the emotional, physical, and financial burden associated with cancer treatment.

On the occasion, ILS Hospitals paid tribute to all cancer survivors, describing them as true warriors whose strength and perseverance continue to inspire society. The programme concluded with a felicitation of survivors and a collective message of hope, awareness, and determination in the fight against cancer.
