Agartala, 8th June 2026: The 15-day Summer Theatre Workshop organized by the theatre group ‘Abhimukh’ concluded successfully with a vibrant closing ceremony, showcasing the creative talents of children and adolescents. Held from May 22 to June 5, the workshop brought together 30 young participants and aimed to nurture creativity, imagination, cultural values, and theatrical skills.
The highlight of the concluding event was the presentation of two plays prepared during the workshop. The first production, Ek Takar Jonyo (For One Taka), written by renowned theatre personality Jayashankar Bhattacharya, was directed by workshop participants Avantika Das and Oindrila Biswas. The second play, Amra Shobai Raja (We Are All Kings), written by noted theatre director and actor Sanjay Kar, was directed by Anish Das. The performances impressed the audience with their lively presentation, confident acting, and remarkable teamwork, earning appreciation from guests and theatre enthusiasts.
Apart from theatre training, the workshop also featured several creative competitions. Awards were presented to the top five participants in a story-writing contest, while prizes were distributed to the top three winners in both theatre prop-making and craft-making competitions. Six participants received theatre-related books in recognition of their exceptional interest and achievements. Certificates were awarded to all 30 participants.
The workshop was conducted by a distinguished team of theatre practitioners, including Sanjay Kar, Partha Majumdar, Chinmoy Rudrapal, Monideep Das, Shubhabrata Chakraborty, Uttam Das, Jadu Das, Karna Debnath, Abhijit Das, and Anish Das. Participants received hands-on training in acting, voice modulation, character development, stage presentation, theatre games, and physical movement.
Addressing the gathering, Abhimukh Secretary Jhuma Dutta Das emphasized the importance of cultural engagement among children and youth. “Through this workshop, participants gained not only theatre skills but also lessons in teamwork, self-confidence, creative thinking, and social values,” she said, adding that Abhimukh would continue organizing similar initiatives in the future.
The workshop concluded in a joyful and culturally enriching atmosphere, reinforcing the importance of theatre as a medium for learning and self-expression among the younger generation.
