Agartala, 8th June 2026: A wave of concern and sadness has spread across the area after the decomposed body of a missing elderly man was recovered from a forest in Tripura’s Sepahijala district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Jatindra Bhowmik, a resident of the No. 1 Chandranagar area. According to family members, Bhowmik had left his home nearly 11 days ago and never returned. Following his disappearance, the family launched a search and also informed the local police station. Despite extensive efforts, no trace of him was found.
On Monday, local residents discovered a body hanging from a tree deep inside a forest, approximately three kilometres from the main Sepahijala road. They immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and recovered the body.Police have preliminarily identified the deceased as Jatindra Bhowmik. Officials stated that the body was in a highly decomposed condition, indicating that it had been hanging there for several days.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are also examining whether any other factors were involved in the incident.The tragic discovery has cast a pall of gloom over the local community, while family members and residents await the findings of the ongoing investigation.
