Agartala, 8th June 2026: Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Cachar Cancer Hospital and Major Ashish Kumar Roy Foundation, organised a Cancer Awareness Programme on 08 June 2026 with the theme “Why Cancer Prevention is the Nerve Centre for Cancer Care Strategy”. The programme aimed at creating awareness about cancer prevention, early detection and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices to reduce cancer risk.
The awareness session was jointly delivered by Dr Litika Vermani, Senior Scientist, and Dr Rajeev Kumar, Head of Research, Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. The speakers highlighted the significance of preventive healthcare measures, regular screenings, early diagnosis and public awareness in reducing the burden of cancer.
The programme witnessed active participation from attendees, who gained valuable insights into cancer prevention strategies, risk factors and the role of informed lifestyle choices in promoting long-term health and well-being. The interactive session also provided an opportunity for participants to engage with experts and seek clarification on various aspects of cancer care.
