Agartala, 18th June 2026: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder on Thursday inspected the bypass road area adjacent to the Agartala–Akhaura Integrated Check Post international border to assess the condition of drainage systems and infrastructure ahead of the rainy season.
During the inspection, the Mayor reviewed the existing water drainage arrangements, road conditions, and problems faced by residents and commuters in the border area. He held detailed discussions with officials of the municipal corporation regarding the steps required to improve public convenience and address issues such as waterlogging and potholes.
The inspection was attended by local corporators Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee and Nitu Dey, Chairman of the Minority Development Corporation Jasim Uddin, former Bharatiya Janata Party state president Manoj Kanti Debroy, AMC Commissioner, engineers, and other officials.
Speaking about the initiative, Dipak Majumder said that the inspection was carried out to ensure that residents of the border area do not face difficulties during the monsoon season. He emphasized that necessary measures will be taken to improve the drainage system and road infrastructure.
“With this initiative of the municipal corporation, the residents of the border area will soon get relief from problems like waterlogging and potholes,” he said.
The AMC authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the inspection to enhance connectivity and civic facilities in the area.
