SFI leaders vow to intensify agitation in Tripura

Date:

Agartala, 22nd June 2026:   The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) leaders, including All India General Secretary Srijan Bhattacharya, West Bengal State Secretary Debanjan Dey, Tripura State Secretary Srijan Deb, and State President Pritam Shil, addressed a press conference highlighting the deteriorating state of education in Tripura.

Bhattacharya alleged that “goon-like activities” by the Yuva Morcha under the guise of ABVP were depriving students of their rights to education and free speech. He strongly condemned the NEET-UG controversy, demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, and criticized the BJP government for labeling dissenters as “anti-national.” He noted that 360 schools in Tripura operate with only one teacher, while the Vidya Jyoti scheme has created divisions in public education.

Tripura SFI Secretary Srijan Deb announced statewide programs over the next two months, including mobilizing guardians against privatization and campaigning for adequate teacher recruitment. He also emphasized building public opinion against the private university bill and ensuring Left Front candidates’ victory in the upcoming VC election to restore the academic environment in ADC areas.

West Bengal SFI Secretary Debanjan Dey accused the BJP of prioritizing private education at the expense of poor but meritorious students, warning that ABVP dominance in campuses threatens democratic rights.

The SFI declared it will intensify its agitation around three core demands: saving schools, curbing dropouts, and ending undemocratic practices in colleges.
