Agartala, 24th June 2026: A significant legal directive has stirred the commercial hub of Dharmanagar as the Civil Court has ordered the eviction of a longstanding business establishment on Central Road and recovery of outstanding dues amounting to nearly ₹96,000.
Court sources informed, the Civil Judge (Junior Division) issued the order in connection with a title suit filed by local resident Kohinoor Roy. The ruling included a “Warrant for Possession” mandating the eviction of the shop premises and payment of arrears.
The order specifically targets Messrs New Padukalay, a footwear business currently under the proprietorship of Sukumar Debnath. The court instructed that the shop, built on approximately 0.021 acres of land, be vacated and handed over to the rightful owner. Alongside, the decree requires payment of ₹95,563, covering arrears of rent, accrued interest, and litigation costs.
The court records show that the dues have been broken down into three parts. The outstanding rent amounts to ₹78,500, while the accrued interest stands at ₹4,710. In addition, the litigation costs have been calculated at ₹12,353. Together, these figures bring the total payable amount to ₹95,563.
On Wednesday, court-appointed officials executed the directive by sealing the shop and posting the official notice, drawing considerable public attention in the busy marketplace.
Expressing relief, property owner Kohinoor Roy stated: “I had full faith in the law. After a long legal battle, truth has prevailed. I am grateful to the court and to all who supported me.”
The court has further clarified that any obstruction in implementing the order or violation of legal directives will invite strict legal consequences.
The case, conducted by senior advocate Rishikesh Nath and his team, has sparked widespread discussion among Dharmanagar’s business community. Observers believe this ruling could serve as an important precedent in resolving future disputes related to tenancy and property rights.
