Agartala, 7th July 2026: In a move aimed at fostering patriotism and strengthening national unity among students, the Tripura Government has directed all schools across the state to begin each academic day with the full rendition of the National Song, Vande Mataram, followed immediately by the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.
The School Education Department issued the directive through a notification dated July 3, 2026. The decision has been taken in line with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ guidelines issued on January 28, 2026, concerning the proper respect, decorum, and official rendition of the National Song.
The order will be implemented in all government, government-aided, and privately managed schools, including recognised aided and unaided madrassa schools throughout the state.
According to the notification, the revised morning assembly protocol requires the community singing of the complete version of Vande Mataram, followed by the National Anthem. The department said the initiative is intended to cultivate a spirit of patriotism, promote national integration, and ensure uniform observance of the prescribed protocols relating to national symbols.
The notification also makes it mandatory for students, teachers, and all school staff to stand in attention whenever the National Song is sung or played, as a mark of respect and in accordance with the prescribed code of conduct.
The decision was approved by the Tripura Council of Ministers at its meeting held on June 25, 2026, and came into effect on July 3, 2026. The notification was issued under the signature of Rajib Datta, Additional Secretary to the Government of Tripura.
