Govt Took Prompt Action Against Accused IAS, IFS Officers, Law Will Decide the Rest: CM

Date:

Agartala, 7th July 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said the state government has already initiated action against an IAS officer and an IFS officer who are facing allegations of multi-crore corruption, asserting that the legal process will now take its course.

The statement comes after South Tripura District Forest Officer (DFO) Gaurav Ravindra Wagh went absconding following the detention of his maternal uncle, who was allegedly found carrying Rs 59.94 lakh in cash. In a separate case, IAS officer Abhishek Chandra has been booked in connection with an alleged Rs 14.5 crore tender processing scam.

Reacting to the incidents, the Chief Minister said the government had taken all necessary steps within the framework of the law. “We cannot act arbitrarily. There is a legal process, and the law will take its own course. As soon as the matter came to our notice, we took action and removed him. Whatever action is required under the law will now follow,” Dr. Saha said.

Referring to the IFS officer, the Chief Minister said departmental proceedings have already been initiated and efforts are underway to apprehend him.”He is absconding, but he will be arrested soon. Necessary departmental action has already been taken, and we are closely monitoring the matter,” he added.
