Agartala, 15th July 2026: Following the surprise visit of Tripura Chief Minister and Health Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha to GBP Hospital, the hospital administration has moved swiftly to address the issues identified during the inspection. Authorities have assured that immediate corrective measures are being implemented to improve healthcare services and ensure greater convenience for patients and their families.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Bidhan Goswami informed the media that several infrastructural and service-related shortcomings came to light during the Chief Minister’s visit. These included broken furniture, maintenance lapses, water leakage, non-functional wash basins, and incomplete painting work. A review meeting was subsequently held with officials from the Public Works Department’s Medical Division, senior administrators of Agartala Government Medical College, and hospital authorities to chart out solutions. The PWD has promised prompt repair and maintenance, though heavy rains have slowed progress.
Dr. Goswami further stated that the trauma centre’s triage area will soon be reintroduced to ensure faster treatment of emergency patients. Seating arrangements and drinking water facilities for attendants have also been created, with instructions issued to ensure proper use.
On hospital security, he acknowledged incidents of theft due to inadequate CCTV coverage. To counter this, plain-clothed security personnel have been deployed, and coordination with police has intensified. In the past two months, nearly ten suspects have been detained. Regular patrolling and vigilance have been reinforced to safeguard patients and visitors.
The hospital administration emphasized its commitment to continuous service improvement, assuring that both infrastructure and patient care will be strengthened in the coming days.
