Agartala, 30th April 2026 : The Unakoti District Congress on Thursday urged the authorities of Unakoti District Hospital to strengthen healthcare services and improve administrative functioning during a meeting with Medical Superintendent Dr. Rohan Pal.
The Congress delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting several issues, including uninterrupted medicine supply, revival of ICU services, direct financial assistance for voluntary blood donors, and matters related to hospital administration. The leaders requested an extension of the deadline for the ongoing Short Notice Inviting Quotation (SNIQ) process, arguing that additional time would help prevent any disruption in the procurement and supply of medicines. They also demanded the immediate restoration of the hospital’s long-suspended Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The delegation further proposed replacing the existing refreshment arrangement for voluntary blood donors with direct transfer of the approved amount to their bank accounts. Congress leader Chandrashekhar Sinha, Youth Congress leader Kumar Deep Sinha, Sujan Debnath, and other district functionaries were part of the delegation.
Responding to the demands, Dr. Rohan Pal said the SNIQ process was being conducted transparently and that the hospital had agreed to extend the initial four-day deadline to facilitate wider participation in the tender process. On the blood donor issue, he said the proposal for direct bank transfers was under active consideration, as many donors had expressed such a preference.
Regarding the Rogi Kalyan Samiti, Dr. Pal clarified that the previous committee had been dissolved in line with National Health Mission guidelines and that the executive body was currently overseeing hospital affairs under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate.
He assured the delegation that every issue raised would be examined seriously and matters requiring higher-level approval would be taken up with the competent authorities.
