AMC bans roadside vending during night hours

Date:

Agartala, 10th August 2026:   The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced new restrictions on roadside vending as part of an initiative to keep the city cleaner, more organised and reduce traffic congestion.

According to a public notice issued by the civic body, street vendors will not be permitted to set up stalls along roadsides or on footpaths within the AMC area from 11 pm to 10 am the following day.

The directive has come into effect immediately. The restriction is aimed at ensuring that roads and footpaths remain free from encroachments during the specified hours, allowing smoother movement of pedestrians and vehicles.

The AMC has urged street vendors and other concerned persons to comply with the new regulation. The civic body said cooperation from the public is essential for maintaining cleanliness, order and better traffic management in Agartala.

The notice also appealed to residents to spread awareness about the new regulation and work collectively towards keeping the city clean and orderly.
