Agartala, 10th August 2026: Michael Madhusudhan Datta (MMD) College, Sabroom, organised a review meeting of its NCC unit on Monday to assess the activities undertaken during the past year and discuss its future programmes.
The meeting was held at the college’s smart classroom in the presence of Lt. Col. Rohan Gupta, Commanding Officer of 15 Tripura NCC, Dr. Tapan Shil and Professor Sangita Hrangkhwal, NCC Wing In-Charges of the college, faculty members and NCC cadets. The programme was chaired by MMD College Principal Dr. Anupam Guha.
The programme began with a sapling-watering ceremony led by Lt. Col. Gupta and other guests. Professor Hrangkhwal welcomed the participants, while Dr. Shil highlighted the various activities conducted by the college NCC unit during the year.
Lt. Col. Gupta expressed satisfaction over the performance of the unit and stressed the importance of NCC in developing discipline, patriotism, leadership qualities and a spirit of service among young people. He urged students to participate actively in NCC activities and make the best use of the opportunities provided through the organisation.
Principal Dr. Guha recalled the history of the college, which was established on September 24, 1987, in a hall of Sabroom Boys’ School. He said the institution has expanded considerably since then. He noted that the college NCC unit was launched exactly a year ago and highlighted that its cadets will participate in the Sabroom sub-divisional Independence Day parade on August 15 for the first time this year.
He urged the cadets to remain active and contribute to the development of the college. The meeting concluded with an interactive session during which the guests held direct discussions with the cadets and exchanged views on NCC activities and their experiences.
