India Has Made Significant Socio-Economic Progress Over the Past 12 Years: CM

Agartala, 15th August 2026: The main state-level Independence Day celebration in Tripura was held at Assam Rifles Ground in Agartala on Saturday, where Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha hoisted the national flag.

Following the flag hoisting, the Chief Minister inspected the parade of the combined forces along with Director General of Police G.K. Rao. Personnel from Tripura Police, Tripura State Rifles, Assam Rifles, Civil Defence, NCC and NSS, among others, participated in the parade.

Addressing the people of the state, Saha highlighted various development and welfare initiatives undertaken by the government. In his written address, he said India had achieved significant socio-economic progress during the 12 years since 2014.

He said India, with a GDP of more than four trillion dollars, has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy. According to the Chief Minister, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country has been progressing with the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas.

He also highlighted several flagship welfare schemes implemented by the Central government for the benefit of the poor, farmers, women and youth. The Chief Minister said more than 25 crore people had been lifted above the poverty line through welfare-oriented governance.

Police medals were also presented during the programme. Several members of the Council of Ministers, elected representatives, senior government officials and a large number of citizens attended the event. The programme concluded with patriotic dance and musical performances by students from various schools and colleges of the capital.
