AMC Ward 39 announces Durga Puja awards, focus on eco-friendly celebrations

Agartala, 21st   August 2026 :  Ward No. 39 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation held a press conference ahead of Durga Puja, announcing awards in categories including Best Idol, Best Pandal, Best Low-Budget Puja, Environmental Awareness, Discipline and Best Souvenir. Special awards will also recognise unique initiatives.

Mayor Dipak Majumder said Durga Puja is an important part of Tripura’s social and cultural heritage and stressed environmental awareness, discipline and social responsibility. Councillor Alok Roy urged Puja committees to ensure transparency and adopt eco-friendly practices, with creativity within limited budgets also being encouraged.

The programme will also highlight the literary and cultural relevance of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in post-independence India.

The main event will be held on November 1 at 6 PM at Arundhatinagar Higher Secondary School, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha scheduled to attend. Winners in various categories will be felicitated at the event.
