SFI, TSU delegation meets DGP, apprises over burning issues faced by School & College students

Agartala, March 16: A four-member delegation of the Students Federation of India, Tripura State Committee and Tribal Students Union, Central Committee gave deputation to the Director General of Police (DGP) over the burning issues faced by the students of schools and colleges across the state.

Speaking to media persons in front of Police Headquarters here, SFI state secretary Sandipan Deb said that both the students organizations are deeply concerned that the students are suffering grievously due to post-election violence in various parts of the state.

“Miscreants are enjoying by burning students’ books in the run-up to exams, along with burning houses. Examinations have already started in colleges including secondary and higher secondary. But there is no situation to conduct exams in fear free environment in various subdivisions. In many colleges, students have to bleed while giving exams. Miscreants are storing bombs inside the school. He is under treatment in the fifth class hospital in that bomb blast. This event is incredible. The normal life of the common people across the state has been completely threatened”, he added.

In this context, Deb made certain demands to ensure that the students can study and attend examinations properly.

These are- Security should be strengthened outside examination centers during school and college. Entry to the college should be controlled during the examination period for others without the specified identity card and admit card; Necessary security arrangements should be ensured for those candidates who have problems in reaching various examination centers in the state; In the case of bomb attack in Kalsimura school, immediate arrest of the accused and exemplary punishment should be arranged; and Defense administration has to take strict steps to stop all kinds of violent incidents so that the people of the state can lead a normal and normal life.

On behalf of SFI state committee and TSU central committee, the four-member delegation humbly requested the DG of Tripura Police to initiate immediate positive steps regarding these matters.
