Agartala, 26th August 2026: Residents from Dasharam and adjoining areas withdrew their proposed road blockade on Wednesday after the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) assured them that their long-pending demands would be discussed with the administration on September 1.
The residents had reportedly left their homes intending to stage a blockade to press for demands that they said had remained unresolved for nearly four years, since 2022. People from Thakurpara, Dhuchra, West Rajnagar, Radhamanpur and nearby areas took to the streets seeking action on their grievances.
However, the SDM did not allow the blockade to proceed and instead held discussions with the representatives of the protesters. During the talks, the administration assured them that their demands would be taken up in detail at a meeting on September 1.
The SDM said the Additional Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officer were also present during Wednesday’s discussions. Representatives, including Sanjit Debbarma and Sudip, participated in the talks.
The SDM said the administration would place the residents’ demands before the higher authorities and work towards finding a solution. Following the assurance, the residents agreed to withdraw their proposed agitation.
The SDM thanked the residents for cooperating with the administration and police and said the issue would be taken up seriously during the September 1 meeting.
