Agartala, 7th September 2026 : The process of filing nomination papers by candidates of various political parties has begun at Chandipur Block in Unakoti district ahead of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections.
Following the issuance of the election notification on September 1, candidates from different political parties have been visiting the Chandipur Block Office every day to submit their nomination papers. The nomination process will continue until September 8, Chandipur BDO Debopriya Das said.
Chandipur Block comprises four ADC villages Mailong, Singirbil, Jamtailbari and Golakpur. Together, the four villages have 30 seats with 11 polling stations set up for the elections.
According to the BDO, a total of 6,070 voters are registered across the four ADC villages. Of them, 2,974 are male voters and 3,096 are female voters.
BDO Debopriya Das said an all-party meeting has already been held with leaders of various political parties in the Chandipur Block area to ensure that the election process is conducted peacefully and that peace and communal harmony are maintained.
Although no additional security forces have so far been deployed specifically for the elections, adequate security arrangements have been put in place at the Chandipur Block Office during the nomination process. Central security forces, Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel are being deployed at the premises.
All four ADC villages under Chandipur Block fall within the Chandipur Assembly constituency, represented by Minister Tinku Roy. The area has also emerged as a politically significant zone following the recently held ADC elections.
