Agartala, 12th September 2026 : The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee on Saturday conducted a training and awareness programme for its Booth Level Agents (BLAs), focusing on the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The workshop, held at Rabindra Bhavan, brought together party representatives and grassroots-level workers from different parts of the state. The programme was aimed at equipping BLAs with a better understanding of their responsibilities during the electoral roll revision process and strengthening the Congress organisation at the booth level.
During the session, party functionaries discussed various aspects of voter-list verification, electoral procedures and the role of BLAs in ensuring that the revision exercise is carried out properly. Organisational strategies for improving coordination and activity at the grassroots were also discussed.
Addressing the gathering, senior Congress Legislature Party leader Birajit Sinha called upon the party’s booth-level representatives to remain alert and carry out their responsibilities with utmost seriousness. He stressed that every genuine voter must be protected from wrongful deletion from the electoral rolls.
Referring to the experience of SIR exercises in West Bengal and Bihar, Sinha cautioned Congress workers against any possible irregularities during the revision process. He said negligence on the part of BLAs could have serious consequences for the party and urged them to closely monitor developments in their respective areas.
Sinha also recalled the Congress’s performance during the previous Panchayat elections, when the party faced considerable organisational and political challenges. Despite being unable to nominate candidates in more than 6,000 seats across the three-tier Panchayat system, he said, the party managed to secure Gournagar Panchayat Samity through a united effort.
Senior Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman and Pradesh Congress Committee president Asish Kumar Saha also addressed the workshop. Both leaders stressed the need for vigilance and responsible action by party workers to ensure that eligible voters are not excluded from the electoral rolls during the SIR exercise.
The leaders urged BLAs to maintain close contact with voters and strengthen the party’s grassroots network throughout the revision process.
