Mohanpur police destroy 80,000 cannabis plants in joint drive

Agartala, 15th September 2026 :In a major anti-narcotics operation, Mohanpur Sub-divisional Police, in coordination with the BSF, destroyed around 80,000 cannabis plants in the Urabari area under Noagaon VC and Sidhai Police Station jurisdiction on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the joint team conducted a raid and cleared two plots containing around 50,000 cannabis plants and eight other plots where approximately 30,000 plants were cultivated.

The operation was led by Mohanpur SDPO Ashish Dasgupta along with other police and BSF personnel. Speaking about the drive, Dasgupta said the operation was carried out based on secret information and was part of ongoing efforts to make Tripura drug-free.

He added that similar anti-narcotics operations would continue across the subdivision in the days ahead.
