Agartala, 15th September 2026 : Police have arrested a domestic worker in connection with the alleged theft of a gold chain and various cosmetic items from a house in the Akhaura Road area of Agartala.
West Agartala Police Station OC Sanjit Sen said on Tuesday that resident Pritidas Choudhury had lodged a written complaint after a gold chain and cosmetic items were allegedly stolen from his house.
Based on the complaint, police from the Battala outpost launched an investigation and detained a woman working as a domestic help in the Akhaura Road area. During questioning, police allegedly recovered a 12-gram gold chain from her possession. The approximate market value of the chain is around Rs 2 lakh, police said.
The stolen cosmetic items were also recovered, according to the police.The accused woman is scheduled to be produced before a court on Tuesday. Police are continuing their investigation to determine whether anyone else was involved in the theft.
