Agartala, 17th September 2026 : The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Tripura, in collaboration with Sterlite EdIndia Foundation, organised the Inter-College Teaching Plan Competition 2026 at Abhaynagar Nazrul Smriti Vidyalaya here on Wednesday.
The competition brought together teacher trainees from six Teacher Education Institutions across the state to demonstrate their lesson-planning, classroom-teaching and pedagogical skills through live teaching sessions. Participating institutions included DIET Agartala, DIET Kamalpur, DIET Kakraban, DIET Kailashahar, College of Teacher Education (CTE), Kumarghat, and Bhavan’s Tripura College of Teacher Education.
A total of 328 teacher trainees participated in the first phase, from which 19 were shortlisted for the state-level final. Each finalist conducted a 20-minute live teaching session for a selected grade before a panel of evaluators.
The trainees were assessed on lesson planning, teaching delivery, classroom engagement and effective implementation of their planned lessons. The judging panel comprised retired SCERT officials, teachers and Assistant Professors.
The competition aimed to strengthen the practical teaching skills of D.El.Ed. trainees and help them connect pedagogical concepts with classroom practice ahead of their school internships.
Ankita Saha of DIET Kakraban emerged as the winner, while Sagarika Acharjee of DIET Agartala and Sutapa Rani Nath of DIET Kailashahar secured the first and second runner-up positions respectively.
Speaking at the event, SCERT Additional Director B.C. Debbarma said such competitions provide trainees with opportunities to connect teacher education with classroom realities. He said planning and delivering lessons before internships can build confidence, strengthen pedagogical skills and encourage trainees to make learning more engaging.
Sterlite EdIndia Foundation Lead-Programmes Sandeep Sarda said the competition provided a structured platform for trainees to practise classroom teaching, receive feedback and reflect on their approaches.
A felicitation programme was subsequently held at SCERT, Agartala, where participating trainees, evaluators, volunteers, teacher educators and institutions were recognised for their contributions.
