2-day G-20 Science Conference begins; Need to make world greener for future generations

Agartala, April 03, 2023: The two-day G-20 science conference has started today in Agartala and will continue till April 4. This is the first time that the G20 science conference is being held in the state. The theme of this scientific conference is “Clean Energy for Greener Future”. The two-day conference is being held at the Indoor Exhibition Hall of the International Fair Ground, Hapania here.

Welcoming everyone to the conference, G20 Indian representative Professor Narinder Mehra said that Tripura’s hospitality touched his heart. “For the sake of future generations, we should work together to make the whole world more green. All should unite to reach specific goals by taking new innovative initiatives”, he added. Prof Mehra also emphasized on everyone coming forward to utilize the opportunities of such summits properly.

Prof. Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, said clean energy has an important role to play in industrialization. Effective steps to address clean energy issues are imperative. It is necessary to look at how to produce clean energy while keeping the environment free from pollution. Today’s discussion will be helpful in formulating policies in the respective areas and solving various issues within a certain period of time. He emphasized on proper utilization of green hydrogen in clean energy.

In the opening session of the conference, the representative of India, the country that presides over the G-20 summit, highlighted the issue of climate change in the discussion. He said, research, innovation initiatives in clean energy production is a relevant issue today. At the conference, the representative of G20 member country Brazil said that everyone must work together to prevent climate change. He expressed satisfaction with the state’s hospitality.

The representative of Indonesia, one of the G20 member countries, also participated in the discussion through video message. The conference was attended by representatives of the G-20 countries and representatives of the Government of India and scientists.
