Agartala: July 28. The Tripura Governor has appointed Amitabh Ranjan IPS as the Director General of Police. In a notification Under Secretary to the Government of Tripura Md H Rahaman said consequent upon repatriation from central deputation and in the interest of public service, the Governor is pleased to appoint Amitabh Ranjan, IPS (TR 1988) as Director General of Police.
Tripura and Head of Police Force, Tripura in the IPS Apex Scale at the Level 17 of the Pay Matrix with effect from the date he takes over the charge and until further orders by order of the Governor.
Earlier on November 17, the Tripura government has appointed VS Yadav as the new director-general of police, almost 10 months after the retirement of AK Shukla. According to reports, the state’s first choice was Amitabha Ranjan, 1988 Tripura cadre IPS, who was not released by the ministry of home affairs following which the process got delayed.
