The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced to death six Razakars who collaborated with the Pakistan Army in the Bangladesh war of liberation of 1971.
The court pronounced the verdict at Khulna on Thursday.
Justice Md Shahinur Islam was Chairman of the ICT-1 whose other members were Justice Abu Ahmed Jomadar and Justice K M Hafijul Alam.
Those sentenced to death are Amjad Hossain Howlader, Md Shahar Ali Sardar, Md Atiar Rahman Sheikh, Md Motasin Billah, Md Kamal Uddin Goldar and Md Nazrul Islam. Of the six, Nazrul is yet to be arrested and was tried in absentia.
There were seven accused initially. One, Md Mojahar Ali Sheikh, died during the trial.
A total of 17 witnesses testified in the case.
The Pakistan Army and its armed collaborators were accused of killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians during the 1971 liberation war that led to the then East Pakistan seceding and becoming an independent country called Bangladesh.
