TPP,  CPIML meets DG, demands restoration of rule of law

Agartala: April 18. Two political parties including Tripura People Party and CPIML Liberation today met the Director General of Police demanding appropriate steps to maintain peace and to establish rule of law.

They have alleged that an atmosphere of unrest has been created in the state since the election results were announced.

The representatives have alleged that even though a month and a half has passed since the declaration of the results of the 2023 Tripura Assembly elections, political violence has not stopped in various parts of the state.

“Many people have left their home and village because of political violence. Poison is being poured into ponds. In many parts of the state miscreants are destroying agricultural land of helpless farmers. Rubber trees are being set on fire. Many traders are still unable to open their shops. Many people are not able to go out on the road with their public vehicle. Thousands of rupees are being fined in the name of extortion”, they representatives alleged.

After meeting with the DGP they have said that the police are not taking any effective action to combat these terror attacks due to which, on Tuesday afternoon, the representatives of placed five demands and handed over a memorandum copy before the DGP demanding appropriate steps to main the law and order.
