Agartala, May 09, 2023: Tripura Employees Coordination Committee (TECC) general secretary Swapan Bal on Tuesday trained his guns at the ruling BJP-sponsored hooligans for continuing their terror across the state defying Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha strict orders. The teachers and non-teaching staff are not spared. Even though, several complaints are reported, but no strict action is initiated by the police station. A jungle raaj is going on throughout the state, he alleged.

Speaking to media personnel at the Sammanay Bhawan here at Melarmath on Tuesday, Bal alleged that the Kalyanpur branch office of the TECC was seized by the miscreants of the ruling party after the election results were announced while the Udaipur divisional office was also set on fire by the miscreants of the ruling party. The miscreants of the ruling party set fire to the Chailengta branch office. TGEA took a land on lease from the North Tripura district administration at Dharmanagar and constructed a ‘pucca’ building on their own expense. After the Assembly elections, the disabled rehabilitation centre was officially launched on April 22 last in the presence of Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen and District Magistrate and Collector. As a result, the neutrality of the government administration has been questioned. Protests are being made for the occurrence of such incidents.

He also said that government employees are not spared. A civil servant, a junior engineer, a female clerk were attacked in their office in Dharmanagar. Jaydeep Debnath, a clerk in the North District Office of the Department of Agriculture, Horticulture and Land Conservation, and a member of the Central Committee of the Tripura Government Employees Association, went to work on Tuesday i.e. May 2 after reporting illness, but the miscreants of the ruling party took him to a club in Chandrapur and was severely beaten sustaining grievous injuries on his body. When he returned to the office injured, those traitors came and threatened him that he would not be allowed to work in Dharmanagar if he did not pay Rs 1 lakh.

Not only this, two private school teachers were called and beaten up. An attempt was made to set fire to a teacher’s house in Kamalpur. In Udaipur, the houses of 3 teacher employee leaders were vandalized and bombs were hurled. In Mohanpur there have been incidents like burning of rubber garden, setting fire to house led by teachers and workers. In Bishalgarh, 2 teacher employee leaders were physically assaulted. The houses of 5 other leaders were vandalized and looted. Besides, a large number of teachers and employees leadership in various subdivisions including Sonamura, Belonia, Santirbazar were physically attacked, houses were vandalized and many have been forced to flee from their homes. Mental torture is going on across the state. There is a lot of extortion going on, TECC general secretary Swapan Bal told reporters.

On behalf of TECC, he strongly condemned each and every incident taking place after the announcement of election results. The organization is demanding the punishment of anti-social elements in every case. And in protest of these incidents, a joint convention will be held on June 11 in Agartala with 8-point charter of demands. Bal said that the struggle will continue continuously. Mahua Roy and others were also present in the press conference organized on this day.
