Odisha to establish Odisha. University of Health Sciences

 Odisha Cabinet held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal to establish and incorporate a University as an Affiliating University in the name of “Odisha University of Health Sciences” .

Briefing newspersons, Chief Secretary P K Jena on Monday said the Proposed University will facilitate achieving excellence in the field of Medical and Allied Health Education and Research.

The Expenditure Finance Committee, Chaired by the Principal Secretary to Govt., Finance Department have apprised the scheme with a total outlay of Rs.330.17 Crore for its implementation over a period of 5 years, —from 2022-23 to 2026-27.

More than 200 number of Under graduate and Post graduate educational institutions are functioning in the State under their respective parent affiliating Universities for offering Degree or Diploma Courses having no specialized branches of study of their own exclusively in Health Sciences.

Establishment of a University of Health Sciences will address the gap in achieving the progressive educational objectives of the State.
