Agartala: June 01. All India Democratic Women’s Association today staged a protest demanding immediate steps to stop the rise of child labor in the state.
Speaking on the issue, Rama Das, leader of All India Democratic Women’s Association said Child labor is a cause of concern in the state and the administration is unable to take any action to stop this child labour.
They have also demanded to provide social security to children, stop child labor and provide security to fatherless children.
The procession started today in front of the CPIM West District Committee office and after circumambulating various routes in the city, a meeting was organized at the Battala area. Rama Das, leader of All India Democratic Women’s Association, Krishna Rakshit, and others were present.
“Today’s program was organized as a part of the central committee of the All India Democratic Women’s Association protest. The main objective of this program is to stop child labor because children who are supposed to be in school are being made to work in tea shops and various hotels. The most intolerable thing is that incidents like child begging are happening in the country and the state. Children are not safe”, said Das.
She said that the kind of violence that is being organized against girl children is highly condemnable. The government must take responsibility for the protection of children. They said that this program is being conducted in all the subdivisions of the state.
