Sudhangshu Das holds fruitful meetings in North Tripura district

Agartala, June 16, 2023: Over a span of two days, Animal Resource Development, Fisheries, and Scheduled Caste Welfare minister Sudhangshu Das visited North Tripura district. Arriving on Thursday and departing on Friday, the minister conducted several meetings, discussions, and interactions during his stay.

On the first day, a round-table discussion was held with officials, focusing on strategies to enhance public engagement in fisheries and animal husbandry, with the ultimate goal of achieving self-sufficiency in the state. On Friday morning, Minister Das met with various entrepreneurs to emphasize increasing yield and productivity in the sector.

In the afternoon, at Dharmanagar Circuit House, the minister engaged in a detailed interactive session with journalists, shedding light on ongoing initiatives and discussing ways to improve further. Minister Das expressed his enthusiasm for the fisheries sector and shared the government’s efforts to foster self-reliance within the state. He encouraged open discussions among the citizens to promote local production and reduce reliance on imported fish.

The minister also elaborated on the government’s support for individuals aspiring to become self-reliant through animal husbandry and fisheries. When questioned about the state’s milk supply, he revealed that 70 percent of the demand was currently being met, with plans underway to establish additional milk collection centers in each district. Addressing the state’s cow welfare program, Minister Das acknowledged the lingering challenges from the previous Left Front government’s 25-year tenure and expressed the government’s commitment to rectify past shortcomings, ensuring a transparent administration for the people.

Highlighting the importance of collective efforts, the minister emphasized that with the assistance of the state’s residents, Tripura can continue to shine on India’s map, achieving self-reliance in various sectors. The government aims to fulfill its responsibilities and provide transparent governance, propelling the small state towards a brighter future.
