Agartala, July 2, 2023: Exploiting the absence of the Thakur Karta, a group of thieves conducted a late-night robbery at a house in the Gopi Chowmuhani area, under the Bagma assembly constituency.

The incident took place when the house owner, Uttam Chakraborty, along with his family members, had gone to Agartala for medical treatment on Friday afternoon. With the entire house vacant, the thieves seized the opportunity on Saturday night and made away with Rs 41,000 in cash and five pieces of gold ornaments. On Sunday morning, neighbors found the open door and informed Uttam Chakraborty, who immediately rushed back from Agartala.

Upon arrival, Uttam found his house in a state of disarray, with furniture destroyed. The Bagma police outpost was promptly notified, and officers arrived at the scene to initiate a preliminary investigation. Uttam Chakraborty urged the police to identify the culprits responsible for the theft. The incident has caused significant concern among the villagers residing in the densely populated rural area.
