 The Radhanagari irrigation dam , the main drinking water resource of Maharashtra’s Kolhapur city and some adjoining tehsils, was filled to its capacity on Wednesday morning following the opening of its sixth automatic door.

According to the Kolhapur district irrigation department, the water storage of the dam was at 8.35 TMC and total 2828 cusec water were discharged from the two automatic doors in Bhogavati river.

Meanwhile, with the discharge of water from the Radhanagari irrigation dam and heavy rainfall in the western parts of the district, the water level of main Panchangaga river increased rapidly towards the danger mark of 43 feet. at 9 AM, the water level was 40.5 feet at Rajaram Bandhara. Total 81 Bandhara (weirs) were submerged by the flooding water of different rivers in the district.
