Agartala, September 04, 2023: Tensions ran high at Kamalpur English Medium XII School as students and members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Kamalpur Nagar unit staged a protest on Monday, demanding the immediate dismissal and transfer of teacher Sajal Ghosh. The controversy stems from allegations of misconduct by the said teacher towards students.

The protest action escalated as the school gate was shut down by the demonstrators, disrupting normal school activities. Their demand was clear: Sajal Ghosh’s removal from the institution. At approximately 3:30 PM, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCM) Aditi Das and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sanjay Lashkar arrived at the scene and engaged in discussions with ABVP leaders and school authorities. The focus of the conversation centered on reporting the allegations to higher authorities and taking appropriate action in response.

Assured that their concerns were being taken seriously, the protesters subsequently decided to withdraw their demonstration. However, the crucial question of when these alleged incidents of misconduct occurred remained unanswered.

Addressing the issue, the school’s headmaster explained that while complaints had been made against Sajal Ghosh, neither parents nor students had submitted written statements specifying the times when these incidents transpired. The headmaster emphasized that a thorough investigation could only proceed if there were concrete details and evidence to support the claims.

Up to this point, no written submissions had been received from guardians, despite a written submission by ABVP on Monday. The headmaster reiterated that action could not be taken based solely on verbal accusations. Intriguingly, it was revealed that the teacher in question, against whom the complaint had been lodged, is the spouse of a member of the Kamalpur mandal, adding complexity to the situation.

As the situation unfolds, authorities are keen to ascertain the veracity of the allegations, emphasizing the need for clear and documented evidence before any decisive action can be taken. The welfare and safety of students remain paramount in the ongoing investigation.
