Agartala, 4th October 2023 : In a decisive move, Khowai District Magistrate Chandani Chandran has temporarily suspended Panchayat Secretary Ramendra Debbarma of Padmabil block, Khowai, following allegations of irregularities in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana 2021-22.
The official disciplinary investigation process was already underway, with Debbarma facing serious accusations related to the flagship housing scheme. Acting swiftly, District Magistrate Chandran invoked Sub.Rule (1) (Classification Control and Appeal) of Central Civil Service Rule 10– 1965 to suspend the accused official on September 30th. As per the dismissal order, Ramendra Debbarma will be considered an employee of the Padmabil block office up to the effective date of the suspension. Additionally, he is prohibited from leaving the Padmabil block headquarters without prior permission from the District Magistrate. This decisive action underscores the administration’s commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in government projects, particularly those aimed at uplifting the marginalized sections of society.
